Per-address email settings
Set on the address that sends.
The signature, the Nextmail footer and tracking belong to the address a message leaves from. The catch-all answers for what it catches, and Apply to other addresses copies one address’s choice to the rest.
In short
What are per-address email settings?
Mail settings usually live in one place, which works until one address needs a different sign-off. Per-address settings keep the sign-off and tracking on the address itself, so what a message carries depends on where it leaves from, not on who sent it.
How it works
An address can answer for itself
billing@ can sign as the accounts team and send receipts untracked, and nothing it saves reaches another address. One with nothing saved sends with the Nextmail footer and tracking on.
Copy it to the rest
Apply to other addresses gives each address you tick this one’s signature and footer, or its tracking. Copy from… fills the box with another address’s saved signature.
Every send asks the From address
Composer, API, assistant, rule or schedule: each send is signed and tracked by its From address. An address the catch-all caught uses the catch-all’s settings.
What each address holds
Four settings, and what an address sends with while nothing is saved.
What you get
In the product today
Nothing saved means defaults
No signature, the Nextmail footer, and opens and clicks tracked.
The catch-all has a page
Its settings cover the addresses it catches, and a new address on the domain starts from a copy.
The address owns it
Everyone who sends from an address uses its signature and tracking.
Good practice
Getting the most out of it
- 01
Write one, then apply it
Save the signature on one address, apply it to the rest, then edit the few that differ.
- 02
Apply again after a change
A copy does not follow later edits, so apply again when the sign-off changes.
- 03
Set up the catch-all first
A new address on the domain starts from its signature and tracking, so settle those before adding addresses.
